Castle Rock Ranch

Location:

Located approximately halfway between Miles City and Broadus.  The ranch is near a little settlement of Stacey in Powder River county.

Castle Rock Ranch consists of 7,136+/- Deeded acres, 1,120 of State Leased acres and 640 Private Lease acres.  The breakdown of the Deeded acres is as follows:

Bunkhouse was originally built in 1908 but has been remodeled.  It has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom

 

Mobile home is 2 bedrooms and one bathroom.  It was placed to be set up for hunters as the owner used to guide on the ranch himself.

Wood Homestead

This is a set of original homestead buildings.  They currently are not being utilized but there is power, phone and well that could be hooked back up.  There is a working windmill that is utilized.  There is potential to make this a spike camp on the North end of the ranch.

Land use:

The ranch has historically been a 450 cow/calf operation with yearlings carried over.  The ranch has a small feedlot with a 1,500 head capacity.

Pastures and Water:

The ranch is well fenced in several pastures watered by 20+ wells of various depths.  Little Pumpkin Creek, ponds and reservoirs provided for ample water supply.  The ranch has installed a 3 mile pipeline with hydrants and tanks for additional water distribution.

Crops and Production:

Little Pumpkin Creek supplies the water for a 96 acre pivot.  Located near the headquarters, the pivot is a low pressure Reinke pivot that is 25 years old.                There are another 1,100 acres of dryland crop and hay production near the headquarters.  Water is abundant and there is room for an additional pivot if desired.  Production is truly well balanced with lots of room to expand.

Hunting:

This as to be one of the most diverse game properties in Montana.  It is home to a resident herd of elk, mule deer, whitetail deer and pronghorn.  The water features on the ranch draw in ducks, geese, pheasants and additional upland game birds.  You can see the video and photos of the trophy animals that call this ranch home.
